What I have been doing/posting on Facebook this week

1.I sent these pictures to my Sister in a private message on Facebook this morning,it is the two bargains I got from the fashion show and sale last night,it was the fundraiser I wrote about in my previous post.

12219439_10206313841497434_7895731340241569754_n I got a monsoon top for just £10 it is a nicer red than on the photo.

12219450_10206313840977421_7428534497893265288_nThese cute PJ’s that I am saving for Christmas Eve,gotta have new PJ’s for Christmas Eve! they were supposed to be £8 but when I get home I found out they had charged me £4 so an extra bargain.

2.I posted these two photo’s on Facebook this week as I made some breakfast bite muffins for the freezer, they are basically a crust-less omelette baked in a muffin tin, I use cooked bacon, mushroom and spring onion and I mix with beaten eggs ,salt and a sprinkle of smoked paprika, I then crumble some de frosted hash browns into the mixture and bake in a greased muffin tin, they can be eaten hot or cold and can be frozen and defrosted, these can be packed as a lunch or warmed in the oven and are really tasty.

12232743_10206300003111483_6177266415624940617_oexcuse the messy tray I spilt mixture on the silicone muffin tin,I used a ladle because I was too lazy to get a jug, serves me right, it is quite a deep tray  and I use it for baking and chilling desserts like jelly etc.

12239580_10206300004591520_618366924292923997_nI put an extra sprinkle of grated cheese on top, don’t the look good?

3.I posted this on Facebook ,I got a wrap from Matalan in the summer but am wearing it still because I have some warm moments,I only just realised after months that my insulated coffee cup matches my wrap, doh !

12196223_10206278564055520_9032447364351530917_n pretty,dots are in again, perhaps they never went away?

4.I posted pics of my coffee table on Facebook, they little house is for burning tea lights and was £5 from Matalan and is so cute ,it looks great when the tea light is lit.

11201850_10206291354495273_1085789637729347618_n cute isn’t it? 12189203_10206291354135264_8674947640167855185_o also on my coffee table is my coffee tray with a few candles my little owl and small wooden H,I did buy this to hang on the wall from E-bay it said large but was too small for the wall, I think it looks pretty on my tray, the tray was just £6 from Asda.

5.12187806_10206265692613742_6852606881404629852_n I have not been too well and have had a chest infection and one day last week I stayed in my pj’s on the sofa watching Youtube, keeping warm in my snuggly throw that I got from Homesense one of my favourite places for home wear’s.  The table is a little adjustable table I use the laptop or the kids use it for colouring,it was from Ikea I think it was £15 and so handy,

I hope yo like my five, be back soon X Dawn

Friday Five

Good morning, I have the most awful cough and cold and have hardly any sleep this week,it is driving me mad. I thought I needed a bit of a boost this week so am going in for a bit of blowing my own trumpet for my five this Friday.

Five things I am proud of.

1.Forming and chairing for a number of years a District fundraising committee for the NSPCC, we helped to raise money to fund vital projects to help abused children in Birmingham and the Black Country. I met some amazing people and am proud to say I helped. I still donate when I can and whole heartedly support the work that the NSPCC/Childline do as 100% of it’s funding comes from charitable donations and fundraising event.

2.Co-founding a support group for families with children with Down’s Syndrome,my dear and oldest friend from senior school had a little girl Abigail my God Daughter, who has Down’s,she was looking for help and information and found hardly anything and asked me along with another lady who’s little girl also had Down’s ,she sadly passed away at the age of three. I put forward the name  FR.I.E.N.D.S Wolverhampton ,Families,Raising,Inspiring,Educating,Nurturing,Downs Syndrome and we had a big launch party where Liam Payne (pre-One Direction days) performed for us, we have had lots of fundraisers and meetings and met some really good friends along the way, sadly we lost the use of the meeting/play room which was a local Children’s Centre due to Government cuts but the members meet up locally when they can.

3.Being a member of my Granchildren’s PFA, we are a very small group and considering how small we help to raise lots of money for the children and school. Each child gets a present from Santa and a Christmas breakfast which they love. We have a leavers Prom which costs the children nothing and the leavers all have a gift,we donate various sums to the Key Stages for equipment,we have donated money for sports equipment and help fund some of the transport for school trips. We have various fundraising events, fairs, bingo, disco’s and fashion shows and sales. We all work hard and pitch in setting up events, baking and making, selling tickets at the gate and giving our time.

4.Walking 9.8 miles collecting money along the way on a sponsored walk to raise funds for a teenage girl who has a bowel disease, she has had over twenty operations, she has been too ill to attend school and when well enough has a tutor at home, she missed out on her school prom (she wasn’t invited, shame on the school!) also a group of fabulous family and friends have done a number of events to fund her very own prom themed Birthday party,I did the walk along and was proud to take part, the girl in question has been in hospital for about three weeks awaiting a life changing operation. It has been cancelled a few times and we are waiting to hear any news.

5.This is a personal one, I am proud to say I have tried my very best to be the best person I could be, a good Wife,Mother,Daughter,Sister,Grandmother and friend,I am proud that even though we lost almost everything when John lost his business I held my head high and did everything I could to help us get back on our feet,it was a long battle with lots of tears but we did it.When we were going through bad times at various times of our 33 year marriage and 38 year relationship I did my very best to make things right.  I am proud to say I have been there when my Mum ,who has many various illnesses, needed me,she has always been a very independent woman and it is sad to see through ill health her not being able to do the things she once did,my wonderful Dad takes such good care of her but she knows we are here for her too. I am proud to be my Sister’s Sister, that is something I wouldn’t have said growing up as we were always arguing over something ,I hope she knows I have tried my best to be positive when she was very ill with Breast cancer,I stayed cheery for her through her aggressive chemo and radio-therapy,hid my tears when she was around and did my best to be the best Sister I could be. I am proud to be a good friend to my dear friends,I listen to them(and them me),laugh with them and cry with them too. I am proud to be a good friend and very proud of my dear friends. I am proud to have tried to be the best Mother I could have been for my boys, I dedicated all of my time to them when they were growing up,helping them grow and learn and be there when they needed me.I am proud I have created many happy memories of their lovely childhood,I am also proud to be a Grandmother to my beautiful babies, I love making memories with them too, I will always be proud that I tried to be the very best I could be. I may not be perfect and may not have the best of everything but I am proud to say I try to make the best of what I have.

Phew,I have really blown my own trumpet, told you !

I hope you enjoyed my five x Dawn

Friday Five

Phil Collins is making a come back, he used to be in a band called Genesis if you don’t know and has had many hits as a solo artist and retired a few years ago, he has announced he is now out of retirement,it is only fitting to dedicate my five to the man himself. Here are five of my favourite tracks, this was really hard as I like so many.

1.You’ll be in my heart

2. Can’t turn back the years

3. Groovy kind of love

4.Don’t let him steal your heat away

5.Come with me

These songs remind me of certain times in my life,Phil Collins is fab and I am so glad he is making a comeback.

Friday five…senses

  1. Hearing, I love the music to to the Lloyds bank Anniversary ad,it is a song called wings by Birdy, it gives me goosebumps. The video to it is lovely too, here is the link.

2.Sight,Oh I  love this one,the sight of my darling Grandaughter Emily who is nine, reading my copy of the Borrowers ( The complete borrowers collection) by Mary Norton,my absolute favourite book ever. I got lost in this book when I was a young girl and wished with all my heart that a family of Borrowers would move under my bedroom floor board. Emily is only a few chapters in but I know she will love the adventures of Arrietty and her family. I can’t tell you how long I have waited for one of my Grandchildren to be old enough to read this book,Emily loves reading and i am excited to share the magic in those pages.

download I would spend ages sitting on my bed reading this book,my all time favourite book as a child.

3. Smell,oh this is easy too, when I hug my Grandchildren and their clothes smell of Comfort Pure fabric conditioner, I use it too as it reminds me of them.It smells like it sounds, pure and clean,I am easily pleased! I love smelling my fresh towels and sheets as it is like getting a hug from my beautiful babies even when they are not here.

Comfort_Pure_21Washes_750ml_FO_8717163044278I need this in candle form!!!! if anyone knows of  a candle that smells like this please comment.

4.Taste,at the moment hot buttered toast, the bread has to be a really nice seeded batch and the butter slightly salted, nothing like it for breakfast on a chilly morning or as an evening snack.

5.Touch, I am in love with my new soft a s a bunny blanket from home sense one of my favourite stores,it is a duck egg blue soft to the touch throw and I love snuggling in my chair watching a good drama on TV or when the Grand kids come they wrap themselves up in my collection of blankets, Mason who is five always asks if he can have my favourite blankie, bless him,how can I say no!

So I hope you enjoyed my five this week, please comment on your favourite’s too or send me a link to your blog in the comments as i love finding new blogs to read and follow.

back soon x Dawn

Friday five

Welcome to my Friday five, today is my Sister Tracy’s 52nd birthday so here are five facts about her,my brave, funny, wonderful Sister.

10698603_10203728929036238_7975245672600124903_n My wonderful Sister Tracy

  1. My Sister is my only sibling, she is two years younger than me,my Mum gave birth to a still-born baby boy at nine months before I was born.Tracy has two children,a boy and a girl.
  2. We did not get on at all when we were growing up,she was “the good one” I was a rebel,we argued a lot when growing up and had to share a room which was a nightmare because she was so tidy and I was so messy, since getting married and having children we have grown really close and speak every day either on the phone or texts.
  3. 3. My Sister rang me twelve years ago with the devastating news that she has aggressive breast cancer, she found a small pea sized lump and had a mammogram that showed she had a tumor deep in her breast that she would never have felt, she went to surgery for a partial mastectomy and removal of lymph nodes, she had chemo and radio therapy, she lost all her hair and went through hell but that treatment saved her life because the surgeon said that if she had not found the smaller lump the larger tumor would have spread to her organs or bones and she would not be here today. She has since has other surgeries and was part of a clinical trial and after a genetic study of our family medical history she was found to carry the gene like all the females on my Fathers’s side of the family (he lost two Sister’s to breast cancer). She is now cancer free thank goodness.
  4. We spent many happy weekends in Devon with our spouses,we had caravans next to each other,we had some really great times there, she now has a motor home and along with Richard her hubby and Lucy her beloved black lab travel around the UK and have just been to Scotland.
  5. She is so brave and funny and has recently lost a lot of weight, she did it all by herself and is an inspiration.I really love my Sister.

Happy Friday everyone,if you are taking part on Friday five blog posts please leave a link to your blog in the comments as I would love to read them.
