Motivation for Monday

I am a list maker and I love the satisfaction of crossing off things on my to do list but sometimes I allow myself to carry over too many of my to do’s to the next day. I have the best intentions of completing tasks when I write them on my list but I am easily distracted.

I complete a few tasks off the list and put the kettle on and sit and have a coffee but whilst sitting I will either pick up my phone or the the TV remote or both and get drawn in to my subscription list on YouTube or tell myself I am only going to watch one of the programmes I have recorded or on catch up, I pick up my phone and check e mails or social media notifications and that’s it,the ten to do’s still sitting unchecked are the furthest thing on my mind as I play my game on my phone or find out who the killer was in an episode of my favorite crime drama or read someone’s life story splashed all over social media,or,and this one will make you giggle,watch other people clean,de clutter and organise on YouTube!  There is nothing wrong in taking a break but you really have to have got some tasks done before it is a real break and not just plain lazy.I have decided to take the bull by the horns and stick to my house work schedule and allow myself a ten minute coffee break and a lunch break. I am watching catch up in my bedroom whilst sorting the clean laundry and will put YouTube on when I am doing the ironing . I am putting my phone on the other side of rhe room when I am cleaning and I have already checked my e mails whilst having my coffee when I woke up.

My bed is made,breakfast things tidied away and washed up and I am about to tackle the living room which is today but needs sweeping and hoovering and then I shall pop the kettle on and take it upstairs and watch the Affair whilst folding laundry.  My phone will only be looked at when this is done. So if you need some motivation I hope this helps. My motivation is to allow myself all the time I want doing anything I want when all of my tasks are done. I will not write a list knowing that it is unachievable and then I can sit guilt free with a coffee and my book,remote or phone knowing it is all done.

The organising continues

This week I have managed to organise Emily’s cupboards,my handbags,my built in cupboard in the spare room,my Christmas decorations,my towels, my wardrobe and the kitchen cupboards. …I am on a roll. I have one drawer one living room that Emily keeps a few things that needs sorting and the rest are done.

My next big project will be to go through my craft stash,bearing in mind I have been crafting for twenty years I have accumulated a lot of crafting goodies so it may take a while. I have some  beautiful craft papers the there is no way I am getting rid of any but I do have quite a collection of stamps,embellishments,inks,stickers, pens, scissors etc that do need going though.  I have decided to start today so this morning I have done some laundry and have a lamb hot pot in the oven and am about to hoover and mop downstairs and then take a coffee upstairs but one of my favourite shows on and get stick in,it will be the hardest thing as I love all of my crafty stash….see you on the other side ☺ x Dawn

I love a de-clutter

Christmas is officially packed away, since my Son and Grandaughter moved in  have lost my craft room and large storage cupboard and a couple of areas where I stored items we didn’t use that often and  also my bedding and towels.  Last night I emptied my only large storage cupboard and de-cluttered big time.  I have all my Christmas decorations in storage bins and they are put away in there along with my Husband’s boxed up  dvd that he refuse to get rid of.  My handbag collection which was in the large fitted wardrobe that used to house coats and bags but is now Emily’s wardrobe,gift wrapping box and my gift box which is a storage bin with bits and pieces I pick up for Birthday or a Christmas gifts when they are on sale or bogof deals etc. It felt so good to shut the door knowing it was all packed away. The tree is in a tree bag and is being stored in the garage because our loft is completely empty and I am not allowing anything up there . We emptied it a year ago and I am determined nothing is going back there.I also de cluttered and donated sheets and miss matched duvet covers etc and am starting fresh by adding a few new items.  My old towels get donated to the local vets and I have a new bathroom colour so will be replacing bath sheets and towels when needed with my new colour.  I don’t have a massive collection of towels but the do take up a large three drawer chest. I have to refrain from buying new ones until I come up with a new storage idea.

Also waiting in a box to go to the chairty shop are wine glass’s and loads of  empty glass candle jars,you know the candles that are from Ikea that are around £2 I like to use the citrus ones in the kitchen and I have quite a collection  of empties so they are going, wine glasses that I don’t use and odds and ends of glassware.

Today (Saturday) I intend to  de-clutter all of the drawers in the living room ,my units have seagrass baskets as drawers and over Christmas things were thrown in for ease but I need compartmentalise items .Emily is going to stay at her Mum’s overnight so I want to use the time productively,she goes back to school on Monday so I can get stuck into projects during the day.

It feels so good knowing everything is getting sorted and organised.  I also like to donate to Cancer research, we get updates on how much they raise by selling our stuff and the last two large boxes of clothing and household items raised  £80 which was amazing. We have donated to the same shop for years and will continue to do so.

I am using the rule two out one in ,if I want to but something new I have to sell, gift or donate two items in he hope of keeping the house clutter free. I am trying to put organising strategies in place in every room of the house and TK Max sell some great storage items and I have a few ideas things I need from there to help keep stuff in its place .

I have sorted through my e mails and have hardly any in my inbox or keep file. I have deleted some unwanted photos in my phone and lap top but have yet to organise the ones I have kept.  I need to get them onto memory sticks and print a few off that I want to frame.  I hate this task it is so tedious and I get easily distracted.

I have been very productive and am on a roll and I hope it continues.

My January to do’s

I have always loved lists and feel a great satisfaction ticking off a task on my daily/weekly/monthly to do list. Here are my January to do’s.

Clear my e mail in box

De clutter my photos on my devices and organise the ones I wanted to keep.

Back up important files

Print off and file anything in my e mail keep folder and ditch any I don’t need.

Clear any apps I don’t use anymore

Sort my bookmarks

Sort my YouTube subscriptions and unsubscribe the channels I no longer  watch .

Meal plan

I have been meal planning for a long time,it saves waste and money,I do my main weekly shop online and I get it delivered on Thursdays,my meal plan starts on Friday and I plan for the week. here is this weeks meal plan. My shop online was done at Asda and with cleaning products,household stuff and food it came to £89 after discounts and I had free delivery which  have for a month. The meal plan is for main meals ,there are four of us in the house and I cook all the meals and prepare packed lunches for Emily,my Son and John my husband. Breakfast for John is eaten whilst he is at work,he takes cereal and a breakfast bar,his lunches are also eaten at work during the week he takes sandwiches,crisps,a chocolate bar and a yogurt,he also takes a flask for tea and a cup a soup. Emily has breakfast which is usually waffles with chocolate spread,porridge with honey or cereal,she takes packed lunch which I will do  separate post on with pics from next weeks lunches,she has a snack when she comes from school which is either a yogurt,fruit or a wafer bar or wagon wheel etc.My Son doesn’t eat breakfast but has a packed lunch every day pretty much the same as his Dad but also takes a sausage roll every day as he loves them.

Here is this coming weeks meal plan.It is a bit of a junk food week not in the healthy eating mood,insomnia struck again and two months in a row with no sleep means I will eat crap and don’t really care,next week will be better.Emily takes a healthy lunch to school and eats fruit

Friday – Fish in batter, homemade chips and mushy peas ( Emily spag bol she is allergic to fish)

Saturday – Chicken Tikka massala with basmati rice and naan bread.(Emily will have a burger and chips)

Sunday -Roast chicken,stuffing,roast and mashed  potatoes,sprouts,carrots,green beans and gravy.

Monday – Cheese omelette and salad

Tuesday – Sausage,cheesy baked potatoes and beans

Wednesday – KFC style Chicken,french fries,corn on the cob,onion rings (Emily’s request)

Thursday – Pizza,wedges and garlic bread.
